Check out this verse:
Matthew 7:26
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
So much goodness in this section of scripture! We don't want to be shallow and foolish, and build our lives on the sandy ideas of the world! We want to build our thoughts, actions and lives on the TRUTH that is God's Word!
What else is inspiring and thought provoking is the people's response. They were ASTONISHED at Jesus' discussion.
His words caused them to stop and ponder what He was saying to them.
I find that when I am filtering through my thoughts in a day and casting down thoughts that try to be above the thoughts of God, I am able to see if these thoughts are something that are built on sand or on good solid ground.
There is so much peace and strength from keeping our thoughts centered on Him and not allowing our lives to be built on sinking sand.
Can't you just hear that song playing in your head...🎶 🎶
"On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil."
Where do you find that you might be building on sand or on solid ground?
